Lauren Friend studied biochemistry and molecular biology at Chapman University before starting her masters program at Columbia University in Biomedical Engineering. She is interested in using machine learning techniques and interdisciplinary approaches to characterize complex populations of cells in the cancer microenvironment. So far in her research she has developed and matured novel pipelines to investigate single cell data describing immune responses in breast cancer patients. She hopes to continue this research to further her ultimate goal of improving human health through a fundamental understanding of cancer and its microenvironment. She is part of the Azizi Lab.
