Research Interest

Maria-Cristiana Gîrjāu is a PhD student in the Department of Statistics at Columbia University mentored by Bianca Dumitrascu. Originally from Bucharest, Romania, Maria-Cristiana received a bachelor degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics from Amherst College, where Maria-Cristiana worked with Prof. Lee Spector on genetic programming. Maria-Cristiana's current interests include computational genomics, ML interpretability, data mining, and functional programming. Outside of work, Maria-Cristiana loves exploring New York, playing guitar, and doing the Wordle religiously.
