Congratulations to Yvon Woappi (Assistant Professor of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics, and the Endowed Herbert and Florence Irving Assistant Professor of Dermatology in the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, affiliate faculty appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering) and IICD member Bianca Dumitrascu (Assistant Professor of Statistics and Herbert and Florence Irving Assistant Professor of Cancer Data Research in the Herbert and Florence Institute for Cancer Dynamics) who were awarded a 2023 Data Science Institute Seed grant for their project “Interventional Representation Learning for Intelligent Wound Healing Strategies.”
They will study wound healing through the development of interventional functional genomic tools, machine learning-powered gene target identification, and experiments. The Data Science Institute’s Seed Funds Program supports new collaborations with the goal of developing longer-term and deeper interdisciplinary relationships among faculty at Columbia.
