Alvand Vahediahmar is a PhD student in Azizi lab. His current research focuses on leveraging 3D geometric deep learning and physics-aware generative models to model biomolecular geometry and solve complex reconstruction challenges in the life sciences. Prior to joining Columbia, Alvand conducted research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center with Dr. Benjamin P. Brown, integrating molecular dynamics into deep learning architectures to improve protein ensemble sampling, as well as at Drexel University under Dr. Feng Liu developing Riemannian flow-matching frameworks for crystal structure prediction. He earned his B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology and his M.S. in Computer Science from Drexel University.
