Cody is a fourth-year medical student currently completing a PhD in the Department of Biomedical Engineering under the guidance of Sanja Vickovic. He has a deep interest in leveraging fundamental principles of RNA biology to design synthetic systems that can be used to target and/or perturb highly specific cell types in their native context. The goal of this work is to uncover cell-type-specific function in networks of diverse cell types in healthy tissues (such as in the brain) and to gain therapeutic access to transcriptionally dysregulated groups of cells in the context of disease (such as in cancer). Before joining Columbia, Cody received a B.S. in aerospace engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and worked for three years as an engineer at MIT Lincoln Laboratory.
