Professor Peter Buhlmann (from ETH Zurich) will be teaching the summer PhD course (see below) via zoom this summer (June 2020).
Topic: 'Causality -- in a wide sense.'
Instructor: Peter Bühlmann (https://stat.ethz.ch/~buhlmann/)
Dates/Time: June 3,4,5,8,9 (2020); 9:00-10:00am and 10:15-11:15am ET
Abstract: Causality is crucial for obtaining more insight and better prediction under a certain treatment or environment which has not been observed in the
data. The course will cover in a first part some of the basics of causal inference. Then, in a second part, we will connect causality to rather different
themes around stability, invariance and distributional robustness. This provides a ``wide sense view'' on the topic, with many fruitful and surprising
connections. We will focus on concepts and methodological ideas, with illustrations from interdisciplinary applications.
