Overview
The Irving Institute for Cancer Dynamics will host a half-day symposium on perturbations and causal discovery in cancer biology on Monday, March 15, 2027. This symposium will explore how perturbation experiments, single-cell interventions, imaging, spatial technologies, and computational approaches can reveal causal relationships in cancer. By integrating experimental methods with computational modeling, statistical inference, and data-driven approaches, the symposium will highlight new ways to understand cancer biology, identify key drivers of disease progression, and inform the development of novel therapeutic strategies.
The program will feature two scientific sessions (“Interrogating Biological Systems Through Perturbations” and “Decoding Perturbations Through AI and Computation”) and a keynote presentation. The symposium will conclude with a poster session and networking reception.
The symposium is open to Columbia University faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers, and students, as well as researchers from across the New York City area. Attendance is free, but registration is required. Space is limited, and registration will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
