Dr. Bianca Dumitrascu, Assistant Professor of Statistics, and Herbert and Florence Irving Assistant Professor of Cancer Data Research, has been named a CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholar

From studying the mind and its place in the natural world to uncovering the mysteries of the universe, the newest cohort of CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars represents some of today's brightest early-career researchers. This year, ten emerging research leaders will join the CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars program, supported by the Azrieli Foundation.

The program provides two years of unrestricted funding to talented researchers tackling important and pressing questions facing science and humanity. The program also offers Global Scholars the unique opportunity to work alongside established researchers in an interdisciplinary and globally collaborative environment.

“I am honored to be named a CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholar,” said Dumitrascu. “This recognition inspires me to continue my research with renewed enthusiasm and to collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the field.”

Dr. Dumitrascu's project will focus on understanding how genes, cell shapes and mechanical forces interact during development, regeneration and wound healing.  Being named a CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholar is a significant achievement, recognizing Dr. Dumitrascu as a leader and innovator in her field and acknowledging her work and dedication to statistics and cancer data research.
