New Horizons in Data Science: Welcoming Genevera Allen to IICD

The IICD is thrilled to welcome Dr. Genevera Allen as a new core faculty member. Dr. Allen recently joined Columbia University as a Professor of Statistics and an investigator at Columbia’s Zuckerman Institute. Dr. Allen’s research focuses on developing statistical machine learning tools aimed at helping scientists make reliable and reproducible discoveries from large and complex data sets.

Inaugural IICD Intensive Workshop Focusing on Data Integration and Optimal Transport

From July 8th to 12th, the IICD held for the first time a five-day intensive workshop, focusing on data integration and optimal transport methods. This workshop provided graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with cutting-edge knowledge and hands-on experience in these critical areas of research.

Alumnus Highlight: Max Gupta - From Virtual Research Experience to AI Research 

Max Gupta graduated from Columbia College in 2021. In the summer of 2020, he conducted remote research in Elham Azizi’s lab. His journey has taken him from virtual research at the Irving Institute for Cancer Dynamics to roles across academia and industry in New York and Germany.

Justin Hong Receives IICD Travel Award. He was awarded to present at the International Conference on Machine Learning 2024, held from July 21st to 27th in Vienna, Austria. He presented a poster exploring stable differentiable causal discovery.
