IICD Welcomes Eight Interns as Part of its 2023 Summer Research Program

Last year, the Irving Institute for Cancer Dynamics launched a Summer Research Program for Undergraduates to offer a 10-weeks research opportunity for undergraduate students under the mentoring of an IICD researcher. This summer, the Institute welcomes eight interns. In addition to research, the students will attend weekly events, such as seminars, lab tours, professional development events, social events with other summer research groups, etc. The program started on May 30th with an orientation, followed by a kickoff lunch where the interns met with their mentor and other lab members. 

Participants include:

  • Hannah Boen, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Harvard University (mentors: Drs. Andrew Blumberg and Bianca Dumitrascu)
  • Andrew Chan, Biology and Medical Anthropology, Case Western Reserve University (mentor: Khanh Dinh)
  • Noreen Hosny, Neuroscience, Princeton University (mentor: Brent Stockwell)
  • Hannah Khanshali, Biology, The City College of New York (mentor: Dr. Elham Azizi)
  • Henry Kotkin, Chemistry & Economics, Kenyon College (mentor: Dr. José McFaline-Figueroa)
  • Anabel Ojeda, Mathematics, Adelphi University (mentor: Dr. Elham Azizi)
  • Nafisa Raisa, Mathematics/Computer & Information Science and Biological Sciences, Fordham University (mentors: Drs. Poly Hannah da Silva and Arash Jamshidpey)
  • Julia Rehring, Mathematical Biology, University of Michigan Ann Arbor (mentor: Dr. Sanket Rane)
