Sanket Rane Received an NIH R01 Grant

September 12, 2023

Congratulations to Sanket Rane, IICD Associate Research Scientist, who was awarded an R01 grant from the National Institutes of Health for an innovative integrative project that synthesizes mathematical and experimental strategies to generate a quantitative understanding of marginal zone (MZ) B cell ontogeny, maintenance, and response to antigenic challenges across the lifespan. By identifying means of modulating MZ B cell dynamics, this study aims to guide the development of vaccines and therapeutics against systemic infections, immunodeficiencies, and autoimmunity.

The overarching theme of Dr. Rane’s research is to identify the origins of immune variability in our responses to infections and malignancies. Sanket uses his unique interdisciplinary background to develop probabilistic, mechanistic, and phylogenetic models of data derived from diverse experimental approaches to assess and infer the complexity and dynamism of our immune responses.
