     Khanh Dinh

Khanh Dinh to Present at Two Conferences.  Khanh Dinh presented on inferring rates of chromosomal instability from sequencing data at the Single-Cell Cancer Biology (GRS) and will present again at the International Symposium on Mathematical Programming.

     Roy Ghosh

Roy Ghosh: First IICD Travel Awardee.
Roy Ghosh is the first recipient of the IICD Travel Award! Roy was invited last month to the European Human Genetics Conference to present his research on a high-resolution spatial-sequencing array that enables tunable RNA capture.

     Sohrab Salehi

Sohrab Salehi Won Best Poster Award. Sohrab received a Best Poster Award at the Single-Cell Cancer Biology (GRS). His project focuses on understanding chemo-resistance in colorectal cancer patient-derived organoids using causal representation learning.

IICD Welcomes Three New Members

Headshots of Genevera Allen, Tarek Zilkry, and Aaron Zweig

Genevera Allen, professor of statistics and investigator at the Zuckerman Institute, joins the IICD as a core faculty member. Previously at Rice University, she founded the D2K Lab. Her research in statistical machine learning emphasizes unsupervised learning, data integration, and high-dimensional statistics, with applications in neuroscience and computational biology. An in-depth profile will be released in our next newsletter.

Tarek Zikry joins us as a postdoctoral research scientist working with Genevera Allen. His research focuses on single-cell cancer dynamics and tumor heterogeneity using manifold learning and statistical techniques. Dr. Zikry received his Ph.D. in biostatistics from UNC-Chapel Hill and will start as an assistant professor at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Data Science and Society in 2025.

Aaron Zweig joins us as a postdoctoral research scientist, co-mentored by Elham Azizi and David Knowles. His research centers on geometric deep learning and its application to causal inference and spatial transcriptomics. Dr. Zweig holds a mathematics degree from Stanford and a Ph.D. in machine learning from NYU.
