2025 Summer Research Program: IICD Welcomes New Cohort of Emerging Scientists

Representing colleges from across the country, these future scientists will dive into hands-on research in cancer biology, bioinformatics, and data science. 2024–2025 Seminar Series: A Year of Insight Across Disciplines

This academic year, IICD welcomed leading researchers from across the country for its monthly seminar series exploring the mathematical sciences underpinning cancer research. Each talk sparked rich discussion and fostered interdisciplinary connections. The series ran from October through May and featured experts from institutions such as NYU, Stanford, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, and more.

Biance Dumitrascu, PhD
We are pleased to announce that IICD core faculty member Bianca Dumitrascu has been awarded a 2025 RISE seed grant. Bianca’s innovative and interdisciplinary cancer data research project was awarded $120,000 in competitive funding. Read here.

Congratulations to Linyue (Joy) Fan who received the Yuen-huo and Chao-chin Huang Award from Biomedical Engineering. This award recognizes doctoral students who demonstrate exceptional potential in biomedical engineering and public health, and who exemplify leadership within the field.

Apoorva Singh, PhD
In April, IICD postdoc Apoorva Singh attended the Systems Immunology conference at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and presented a poster titled “Dissecting Mechanisms of Marginal Zone B Cell Ontogenesis and Homeostasis.” The work highlights ongoing research into the dynamics of marginal zone B cells.
 
Stephanie Velasquez, MPA
Congratulations to Stephanie Velasquez, MPA, who has been promoted to Executive Director of Business Administration and Strategic Initiatives. In her expanded role, she will lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives that support IICD's research, educational, and administrative growth.
