Approximate Bayesian Computation and Distributional Random Forests

Khanh Dinh, Simon Tavaré, and Zijin Xiang explain the evolution of statistical inference for stochastic processes, presenting ABC-DRF as a solution to longstanding challenges. Distributional random forests, introduced in Cevid et al. (2022), revolutionize regression problems with multi-dimensional dependent variables, and also offer a promising avenue for Bayesian inference. Don't miss the detailed illustration of ABC-DRF methods applied to a compelling toy model, showcasing its potential to reshape the landscape of ABC.

In a recent Cell publication, IICD member Brent Stockwell and his group found that a rare type of lipid is a key driver of ferroptosis. The findings provide new detail on how cells die during ferroptosis and could improve understanding of how to stop ferroptosis in contexts where it is harmfully occurring. Read more.

2024 NCI Spring School on Algorithmic Cancer Biology
(April 1-5th, 2024)

Advances in tumor sequencing have resulted in large scale genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic datasets. The analysis of these datasets has led to several new discoveries in cancer. For this reason, many cancer research institutions in the private sector, government and academia now have groups of computer scientists, genomicists, mathematicians, statisticians, engineers and physicists to develop algorithmic methods to analyze these datasets. SSACB aims to increase these interactions by bringing together a small group of participants with diverse backgrounds and expertise.
